What if we arrive in the early afternoon, does the park have discounted rates for half-days?

No discounts for half days- sorry. I suggest choosing either the water park or the fun park, you won't have time to do both. You also have to pay for parking, so be sure to budget for that. If you want to ride the roller coasters, I suggest you buy a Fast Pass. Bring your own lunch in a cooler - the food there is expensive and it s*cks! SixFlags.com doesn't have any decent coupons, but once you get into Illinois you can buy a can of diet Coke and there will be a $15.00 off "coupon" on the can. Just take the can to the ticket booth.

I don't know about Schnuck's, but I do know that it is NOT true that "all of the major grocery stores" sell them.
I was there about three weeks ago, and we bought discount tickets at Jewel/Osco. We saved $20/per ticket, which was a really good discount. If there isn't a Jewel/Osco year you, there is one about three miles west of the park entrance on Grand Avenue. If you are taking the interstate to the park, then exit Grand Avenue and go west past Gurnee Mills Mall. The store is just past the mall.

You can call the customer service line and ask them what discounts they might have. I went to Six Flags in Arlington, TX and we got $10 off for having a gas receipt.

Schnucks grocery stores always have specials on six flags tickets. If you don’t have a Schnucks in your area, find one on the way to six flags. But call them ahead of time to make sure they have what you need. I believe it is a pretty good savings when you buy tickets from Schnucks. First...try online at www.sixflags.com that should help you. Sometimes they have discount passes if you purchase them online.
Second...try at one of your local grocery stores at the courtesty desk. Sometimes stores sell discount passes at reasonable rates.
Third...try asking some of your closest friends and see what they come up with. If that doesn't get you anywhere...come back here and ask again.

Buy a season's pass. You can try and get 3 other friends to go with to get a Family Pack, and it comes out to about $80. If you go twice, it's paid for.
For one time, go to Wendy's. YOu can get a $15 off coupon.
