Ask him what's wrong, it may be something that has nothing to do with you. He may have some stresses at home or in school or work. Don't assume that he doesn't like you any more until you talk to him. I know that it's hard, you want to think the worst, that's part of your self esteem issue. Try to stay open about it, until you find out.

Unfortunately, you probably don't know as much about him as you think you do. Since it is only an online relationship, he could have been leading you on all along and there is really no way for you to know.
Did you ever exchange anything else other than online conversations? I mean phone calls or anything like that?
Online relationships that never go anywhere other than the internet should be guarded. I met my significant other online and we have been together for a long time, nearly 15 years, but we started out just iming and emailing, then phone calls, then we met in public.
If you have shared you heart with someone you never met, sweetie, you may have gotten broken.

I was in a simular situation with a guy on line for 5 years... I loved him ((or was it lust)) I still talk to him tho and we have not met yet..I think its jus that we get used to talking to people on here and its like a daily routine...Make sure you know what you want frist before you make a decision because you or he might get hurt.....mainly you cause u seem to be taking this too seriouly...Do u talk to him on the phoneat least..? cause me and my friend talk almost everyday but still have not met ..if not then ahhh its just a lust feeling u have...get over him and just make new friends...I bet u will love lots others on line too...but remmeber its not love...unless u face each other and tell each other how you feel face to face...Or he makes an effort to meet you at your house with your parents there... not meet u somewhere where it might turn out to be a maniac or something like that ..

You strike me as a young lady who wants a relationship so badly she may make a bad choice.
If you want a lasting relationship then the best thing you can do is work on yourself (like getting your education) and then you may find that you aren't interested in him because you have grown.
I'm certain there is someone out there for you but you need to get yourself ready.

To be honest if you havnt even met than I say just get over it and him. There are soooo many other guys out there. He obviously isnt really that interested in you or nothing would have changed. I say start talking to someone else. It is so easy to find guys to talk to online. Good luck to you.
