sounds like a power supply or other hardware issue. I recommend taking it to a PC repair location if you aren't comfortable messing with the innards of your computer.

If your Vrius Scan Data files are not updated you may not know if you have a virus causing it or not.
The other problem could be your power supply. If it is getting really hot then the chances are it is failing.

If it just cuts out it could be due to over heating. Have you used powerfull enough tools to look for Virus and Spyware and maybe even a root kit?
