Because this is a fairly anonymous way to be as obnoxious as they've always wanted to be. They think the reaction to them is funny and it's probably a lot of immaturity - they think that being obscene makes them appear older or edgier....when in fact it reflects poorly on their intelligence.

Well, part of it has to do with the fact that nobody has really let them know that it's wrong. They act like this in the home, at school, with their friends, so it just carries over here. The other part is that they're trying to look cool, hip, whatever to people here... when in fact they're just making themselves look like idiots.

I can think of quite a few reasons. Maybe they feel like they're getting away with something illicit. Maybe it's a way of venting anger that they wouldn't do with people face to face, but they feel it's ok because people online are anonymous. Maybe it makes them feel superior. Maybe they are just trying to get a rise out of other people... looking for attention.

I think it is because they are/or at least feel they are small, insignificant, unimportant, invisible and unwanted in the real world so they try to be big on here.
Will Smith's grandmother explained that he was to smart to use such language.
All people are. They just don't know it.

Not everyone finds it cool some people just get angry with the ignorance of people who answer their questions with answers like "what?".
