This is normal policy here but as it's my first pregnacy I want to make sure there aren't any signs to look for if there are any problems. I don't want to be completely neurotic and going to see my doctor every other day.

it's normal to wait until 20 weeks! a person's insurance typically only pays for ONE ulrasound, unless there is a medical need for another (the need has to be validated).
another thing that is an advantage to waiting is that they can tell the babies sex (usually) at 20 weeks.

Not unheard of... Unless you have bad pains, or bleeding.. these are the normal warning signs of things having problems.

With my 4th, I didn't know until I was 20 weeks along that I was even pregnant. Nothing to worry about, unless other symptoms show up.

Even in the states they wait until 16-20 weeks to do the sono. This is normal and it is also normal to want to know if there is anything wrong with your baby. Just chill out there is nothing you can do about it.

So what exactly is your question?
Do you have a reason to think something is wrong?
Many women NEVER have an u/s in their entire pregnancy. I've had 3 babies but only one u/s. (With my first baby.) All three were healthy. Did you know that ACOG actually recommends AGAINST doing u/s as a routine procedure?

In a healthy pregnancy, this is normal. Women who have high risks, or are pregnant with multiples, will have more ultrasounds.

This goes to show that your doctor believes that you have a healthy baby, and are having a healthy pregnancy! God bless!

I only had one during my pregnancy and it was at 20 weeks. There's no real reason to do one sooner if you are healthy and they don't need to date the pregnancy. Sounds like everything is going well.
