Brazil didn't put up a good performance this time, didn't even reach the semi-finals... So, what is evident frm this, is that they lacked good practise, confidence and yes possessed a lil pride.
They should try again for the next World cup...
As for being ranked first,
I think France should be the one...
Brazil needs a lil break!

brazil is undoubtedly one of the best teams in the world, but given the few incidences in this world cup, it would make you think whether brazil is really at the top. however, ppl say that italy isnt the best of the best. neither is france, so we dont know for sure. but as far as history is concerned, it will always be booked that italy became the world champions in 2006.
it is very hard to rank teams based on the wins and loses because most of them are pure luck and it doesnt really show what the teams have got. soccer is a matter of being at the right place at the right time, like thierry henry's goal against brazil. that goal turned everything around for brazil, but brazil didnt pull themselves together to score past barthez. brazil didnt perform as well in this world cup as many ppl would expect them to. so we cant be certain that brazil is indeed the best team in the world.

Brazil is ranked #1 cause of pts recorded through WC qualifying and the WC tournament it self. look at team USA being ranked 5th at begging of WC 2006 know that was a joke they qualify vs teams that are ranked well above the 80's if they would play teams in Europe they would not even qualify and that's for sure. but yes FIFA is coming up with new ways to rank teams in the world cause the one they have is not accurate.

NO they lost early and well the Italians won. Doesn't that prove they are the best team? FIFA ranking is a joke manipulated by some idiots who just think in terms of money.

they went out in the first round last world cup(2002)......short memory I see...........Brazil is good at no.1..........although I don't believe world rankings are all that important.....in a tournament injuries....yellow cards........bad bounces.........mental toughness and some luck come into play.......so it's whoever puts all that together who usually wins......congrats to Italy for their 4th world cup title!!

it's not true to say that Brazil isn't great only bcuz of a stupid game,everybody loses,and everybody can win..this is our life,you guys must understand this cuz it's a fact
i'm a huge fan of Brazil,and for me they r nr. 1.For those who r dissapointed in this WC performance i would say:life goes on,with her + and -

who knows...theyre an amazing team but just didnt do so well during this past world cup but keep in mind they only lost one game...but one bad game against france doesnt mean they suddenly drop as #1.
im not a huge brasil fan but i think they can still be considered number 1...
