I have a hard time getting on certain sites. If I try to get on Myspace.com or some other sites my internet freaks out and I have to restart. Most of the time it has a very hard time loading and won't load all the way then my messengers stop working. The weird thing is my bf has almost the same exact computer, so I am thinking it is some setting. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? It happens on a daily basis. I have to use his computer a lot of the time.

You need to protect your computer with a software firewall such as Zone Alarm which works better than the Windows XP firewall in my opinion. Download the freeware version of Zone Alarm and make sure to select only the free options when you install it. Turn off your Windows firewall if it's turned on.
Next, you need to download and install the AdAware SE freeware and run it to clear out all the Adware that is probably bogging down your computer. Both freeware programs can be downloaded from http://www.download.com
Also, you should check that you have at least 256 MegaBytes of RAM memory and that your hard drive doesn't need "defragmenting". Here is a website that helps you troubleshoot slow PC computers:

When you say "freaks out", what exactly do you mean? Does it lock up and/or encounter errors? What you are experiencing could be caused by several things: connection speed, server loads at the sites you're trying to load, corrupted browser etc. However, if your b/f's computer is the same as yours and you're using the same connection, you should basically get the same load times. When I encounter problems such as these, I generally make sure that my system is clean and not infected with any kind of virus or remote access programs, adware, spyware etc. before I make attempts to reinstall/upgrade the application that is experiencing the problem. I also make certain that my operating system is updated properly. After I am satisfied that my system is clean and updated, I personally would reinstall whatever browser you are using and update it if possible. There are many free virus scanners online and adware/spyware/firewall programs for free as well. You can find these by searching for them. I hope this helps you to resolve the issue. Feel free to e-mail me if you cant find software for cleaning your system, as I have some links that would likely help.

I know of a way that will definitely help you.

Go to STart then RUN and then type regedit. Hit enter.

Browse to this folder:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
Microsoft
Windows
Current Version
Explorer

Then there is a folder called Browser Helper Objects.
Delete EVERYTHING in that folder.
There should be about 5-10 folders with weird numbers. Just delete all of them. You dont need them at all. It will speed up your browsing.
