Okay, here's the whole thing.

I have a cable modem and I have a router. I'm trying really hard to get my new laptop to get the internet from the router as wireless internet. Maybe I dont have it connect right or what. But I have no idea what the problem is. And i'm really frustrated. I need it to run internet for work. So if you can please help me, It would mean alot please and thank you.

It's very easy. First connect the cat5 or usb to the modem, router, and the computer. Then pull the power cord from the cable modem and wait 2 miniutes. Plug it back in. Next pull the power cord from your router, wait 2 minuites and plug it back in. Last shut down and re-start the laptop. After it reboots then there should be internet. If not then you go to internet settings and activate the wizard. follow the prompts then restart the laptop again.

Maybe you should give up the router and connect the cable modem directly to the wall socket that is provided or configure the router to the IP address.
