I agree with Molly.....a good suit will last you a long time and will take many dry cleanings. I would invest in a couple good suits....one black or navy and one neutral....like a camel color or perhaps a green tone if you look good in that. What you wear under that can be on the cheaper side.....look at JC Penny or Kohls. Also....don't skimp on the shoes....get some that are comfy and fit well. It is true...people look at shoes. Also, I would get the skirt and the pants with the suit that way you have some extra variety. Get a suit jacket that fits well, and that you can possibly mix and match with other pants or skirts....ex, A black jacket with a tweed or wool skirt. Go for quality, not quantity. Also...have them taylored if they don't fit...it's worth the extra money.

In larger cities there are consignment shops where business women take their clothes to be sold to other business women at drastically reduced prices. There is nothing wrong with second hand clothing. In fact, it's smart shopping.

Dress for success. People will look at your clothes, shoes, handbag and accessories. It's better to have a few well chosen outfits than more outfits of a cheaper value. You can pull off the cheaper clothes sometimes if you carry yourself well.

Good luck in your new job.
