When Saddam was in charge, he had control over the country. Under American occupation, there is none.

They may be but not at the hands of the occupying forces they're not. Saddam murdered more of his own people than lost their lives to the US army. the reason is that under Saddam his own people were terrorised and dare not act as they are doing now. This is similar to Kosovo after the fall of the communists. Sometimes you have to move 3 steps back to move 5 forward.

Are you sure that is true?
Are you taking into account towns that were gassed in northern Iraq and Shiites called into football stadiums for parlay then killed in southern Iraq, and all of those people who 'disappeared'?
What about the mass graves?
However, a lot more are dying than we wish were dying. A big difference is that in this case we and their government are trying to protect them, instead of being the agents of that death.
Still, if we'd known this many innocent civilians would die from the terrorists of the world being drawn in there, I suspect we might not have gone in and would have handled it differently. I do feel badly for the Iraqi people.
What do you suggest at this point? We don't want to leave them without such protection as we can offer, either, so long as they want us there.

because they are not used to being free, saddam got them all bottled up for too long and now that they have been liberated they think freedom of expression is about taking up arms and killing themselves.
We rather see "failure" in Iraq bacause short term political clap-trap from "neo-cons" and "neo-liberals" rather than giving the Iraqi's any hope.
Least not forget that 35 YEARS of a command economy, war,no infrastructure investment, lack of any political thinking and running a country like a death camp under Saddam takes time to recover. Most of the population has ONLY ever known Saddams way of "running things"

I think that being under the control of Saddam for so long they have no clue how to deal with the lack of government they are used to. Like a kid that gets into things when the parent isnt looking. People in the US die because of crime it just isnt the medias big topic right now

I find that very hard to believe - Do you have ANY idea how many people died under saddam? When he used WMD's to try & eliminate the Kurds he probably killed more in one week than have been killed since Iraq was liberated.
I'd guess you pobably read the figures on some anti-war site & believed it, which, under democracy is your right.
If there is any truth in it, it would be down to the TERRORISTS (not insurgents or militants) who have come into Iraq from arab states because they don't want a democratic state in their midst.

Because they are between the insurgents and the United States army. The insurgency leadership claims that they value Muslim lives, however they appear to value innocent lives less than their own politics. They appear to randomly assassinate any person who is trying to make a living under the new Iraqi rule.

because the terrorist are killing their own people at a slower rate, compared to the people who were murdered with Saddam ruled there, I read something like 30,000 have died since the US as been there, it was in the tens of thousands before the US was there.

How about a link to support your blatant lies. Most Iraqi casualties are from Arab TERRORISTS. Trying to make sure the Iraqi's don't become free.
