What I think is that Iran can diffuse the situation with the United States at any time they choose. All they have to do is not support Hezbollah or any other terrorist organization. Then they also need to tone down the nuclear rhetoric. That is not going to happen though because Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is posturing. That is the way the Middle East shows strength to their neighbors, by standing up to the big bad US to prove they are not afraid. I feel sadness for the Iranian people because I firmly believe that the average person in Iran is just like the average American. Just trying to get through their day.

I hear so much condemnation of the US concerning Iran, but I do not hear the same people saying they wish Iran would show some restraint to avoid an imminent conflict. I firmly believe Iran is just posturing in this matter, but you never know. What I know for sure is that if Iran becomes a nuclear power the world will definitely not be safer.

To a previous poster who believes the President is afraid of North Korea and Iran. First off, Iran supposedly does not have nukes yet which kind of puts your theory on the skids, and second, if you believe the President is afraid of either of these countries you have seriously miscalculated. If nukes come into play for real neither one of these countries stands a chance.

Dorie: The reason there is no headway on impeachment is because there are no legally provable grounds for impeachment. Also those who call for the president to be impeached are a serious minority.

Chri R: I for one have a hard time taking your talk about real news seriously while you're posting links related to a fanatical freak like Michael Moore.

chaoslover: If you were talking to me. I don't want to see anyone start swapping nukes, because you are correct everyone would suffer. I don't know if Iran has nukes or not, and I don't think I want to find out the hard way. I was merely stating that to believe the president is afraid of a country with nukes, defies logic based on actions taken in the past by the administration. The fact that we have not taken direct action against either of these countries is a prudent decision at this point, but we cannot sit back and wait for the missile that is nuclear tipped either. I would call it a Catch-22, but history will tell I guess. I just hope we all survive long enough to know what they history is going to be.

It could happen that way, though being at the end of his term and all the negativity surrounding Iraq and Afghanistan, it's probably not likely to happen during his term, though the groundwork may be established for the next hawkish presidential candidate (like Condoleezza Rice).

Someone above stated that it prevents the "terrorists" from attacking us and that the US isn't taking anymore attacks.

PLEASE. Stop using 9/11 as an excuse.

Snap out of the mentality that the US is the "center-of-the-world". Arrogance and ego got us in this position. It won't get us out, it will only mean many people will die on both sides needlessly. As a superpower, we should also act more responsible than we are. We are not the world. We are a small fraction of the population. Instead if we were to focus on ending hunger, ending poverty, and being more responsible with the resources we use and the waste we produce (first within the US and also globally) then perhaps we may see a different picture in the 'world of terrorism' and those who hate the US.

It's hard to recruit someone into a terrorist network if they are happy, healthy and can see that the US is helping make that happen. Yet, instead, we declare war on the terrorists in a fashion that is killing just as many innocents and leaving countries in ruins, and families unable to feed themselves. In other words, we are helping their recruiting efforts. Not a very wise vision coming from our so called leaders. Small minded people are leading us. We need men and women who can act without resorting to urges to strike out (like Isreal is now doing). We look like the bad guys and we only help justify their actions.

Think about it.

how did bill Clinton have the chance to stop the current administration from refusing to negotiate with the Iranian president???

I believe there is a strong possibility of the Bush administration expanding the war into Iran. I hope to God that there will be something that stops them. I wish the people who are trying to get this administration impeached finally can make some headway. But then again, who will replace them if they are removed from office?

Gads almighty, I sure hope not!!
As much as luv this country, I hafta admit that Dubya is the stoopidest prez we evah had!! I seriously cannot find any intellectual spark in that man.

While I don't blame Israel in its own "offense is the best defense" caper, I hope Dubya has enough sense to not commit America into attacking Iran.

Well Korea DOES have nukes.
You want to gamble that Iran does NOT.
You could get your rear end incinerated1
Bush uses Israel as a "catspaw" ... could be . He might favour starting a nuclear war as far from US as possible, but only a moron would imagine that we would all not be affected... its a small world jack.

America ain't takin' that shi*
Take Afghanistan, then Iraq, Then we are in position to hit Iran, the true architects of this whole Bin Laden bullshi*

We sit in the middle now and "wait" for the terrorists to come to us...it's like shooting fish in a barrell, as long as they are chasing us "infidels" over there...then they ain't blowin' your a** up over here...GET IT !!?? bill Clinton had a chance to stop this several times but apparently Monica "blew" it off.

Under Bill Clinton, the first bombing of the twin towers
the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole in Yemen
Bin Laden was captured after the bombing of an aspirin factory in nigeria, Bill was asked what to do with him, and he said give him to someone else to take care of....Monicas' busy right now !!!!

As long as the US people act like stupid scared sheep being terrorized by a little stupid doggy that thinks he is the wolf, Bush can do what he wants, the only reason he needs is oil and pipelines.
Its a pity you don't get real news in US anymore, you are being kept stupid.
