I like Etta James & Ella Fitzgerald.

If you are a big jazz fan, I came across this book by Wynton Marsalis called Jazz A-B-Z. It sounds really good. It's a picture book with a poem for each Jazz musician.

Mike Patton (from faith no more/mr bungle/fantomas, etc)- you probably don't consider him a "jazz singer" but he kind of is if you listen to the stuff he does with john zorn and mr bungle. I realize that he does a lot of screaming and growling, but coltrane used to squeal alot- that's kind of what mike patton does with his throat
