I do own a TV to watch DVD's and videos, but I rarely even bother with that anymore. I don't have a signal coming through my TV, so I can't watch it.
Every thing is either doom and gloom or it's all been done before! I can read books, or chat to friends, or draw, or write, or listen to music, or visit my family... the last thing I want to take up my time is a load of junk that I'm not interested in!
I don't even find myself wanting to watch TV when I can, like when I'm at a friend's house. We usually wind end talking over it if we put anything on anyway.
Why waste your time watching made up characters when real people are out there?

Strictly addressing your question (not the second part), yes I know one person who does not watch television.
Me.
Now let me explain... I am a television addict. When I left the USA I went into the Peace Corps. I was lucky enough to live in an area where there was running water and electricity but it was ridiculous for me to have a tv. So I didn't. I suddenly discovered that there were more hours in the day to do more productive things.
Since then I have made it a point to either not have a television or not to have it connected to cable. Therefore, I do not watch television.
BUT, I do love television shows and films. I go to the cinema quite often and watch films. But when your 2-2+ hours of entertainment are over... you either buy another ticket or find something else to do.
I also BUY DVDs and VCDs (Video CDs) of movies and television series that I like. So, I do watch shows but I can control how often, where, when and how intrusive it is in my schedule. Lately, I have not had time for any of it. I shouldn't even be on here right now. Ha!

About 2 years ago we were facing financial difficulty and decided to save by turning off our $60 a month satellite. Never been better! I have 3 kids who would get up first thing and turn on the tv. I was getting heavier and more unhealthy. Now when theres nothing to do I dont instantly sit on the couch and watch tv. We walk, ride bikes, play games, and we even started doing working out once a day. With no tv we can take the $60 now and go to the zoo, a waterpark, the carnival, ect. To all who think they couldnt go without tv, just try it for a month or to. youll be bored at first but before you know it youll be finding plenty of things to be involved in.

I try not to watch TV too much. I used to watch it all the time. Now I just watch the news or movies every now and then. When I'm away at college, though, that's a different story. I have my TV on constantly; most of the time for background noise since I don't have a roommate.
I've read articles before about people who have given up their TVs because they think it's a bad influence or a waste of time. It seems very rare now to find those types of people though. Because you can get alot of good information from TV. It's not all a bunch of useless junk.

I work with a guy that didn't have a tv for 8 months. Not because he didn't like them or want one. He is just very particular and wanted a certain television and wanted it at a certain price.
Personally, I would have just bought a cheaper tv. Even though I spend a lot of time at the computer, there are a lot of shows I like to watch. Of course, there are times when it is on and no one is really paying attention. But when we want it , it is there.

Will depend on the individual eh? I went without a television for six years, and enjoyed a much better lifestyle, did more, got fitter, read more, listened to radio. Two years ago though I got an itch to watch the rugby world cup so bought a tv. I thoroughly enjoyed the rugby but since then have struggled to find anything that interests me on the small screen. I've tried, and tried. But the tv will be going when the licence expires, soon. Life without one, I prefer.......long live radio :-)

I don't watch much TV, because there's very little on that interests me. So some days I won't watch anything, other days I'll watch 1-2 hours ... and very occasionally I'll watch more. More likely to watch a DVD.
If there was more interesting programming, and less reality nonsense, I might be tempted to watch more.

I still watch TV but only intersting programmes which means that I don't watch it that much these days. I will quite often have an evening without switching the telly on.
