If you live on the East Coast, the Bahamas are A LOT closer....avoid the 20 hours that it takes to fly round trip and go to Nassau

Go to Hawaii. It is a unique place where you can see things that you cannot see any where else. There are many Hawaiian islands to visit that are very different from the Bahamian islands.
