The universe is made up of energy. So is this planet. So are you and me. So is our mind.

There may be excessive energy to let off...we let off negative energy by reacting in a negative way. And to be mean is one of it.

How did the negative energy occur in the first place? Negative stimulus. Or at best, a perceived/imaginary hurt.

Because we can be. We are never mean to people who can shoot us, who give us money, or have the power to lock us up or to overpower us. We are mean because there are no consequences for our bad behavior. The American society is losing many of its manners and customs because technology is making it easy for people to strike out against each other, safe within the confines of their own home, behind their mask of anonymity. This false sense of bravado is carrying over to the "real world," where our ability to say what we think has normally been limited to "be polite." It is a disturbing thought, but people are not inherently nice creatures. They are, on the whole, resentful, angry, aggressive, selfish, egoistic, and greedy. Any sense of community, love, and fairness have to be instilled--programed-- in us from and early age. Yet, if you think about it, it is those "bad" and "mean" qualities that helped keep our species thriving past the ice age.......

Because we all reach different levels of maturity at different times. Some people never reach total maturity.

Take for instance the fact that the bullies of the school yard grow up to be the bullies in government. Little kids in adults bodies with chips on their shoulders and the power to back it up. Sad, huh?
