question is.............
a 8000 kg engine pulls a train of 5 wagons each of 2000 kg . along a horozontal track. if the engine exerts a force of 40000 N and after the trackoffers a friction force of 5000 N then calculate:
1) the net acceleration force
2) the acceleration of the train
3) the force of wagon 1 on wagon 2

so......lets see....... u do it or not!!

mass of the train and the five wagons=18000 kg
force exerted by ht engine40000 N
less the frictional force of 5000 n the net force=35000 N
acceleration of the train=35000/18000 m/s
the force of wagon 1 on wagon 2=10000*35000/18000 N

F=m*a

Force=40,000N - 5,000N=35,000 N
Mass= 8,000 kg + 5 * 2,000 kg = 18,000 kg

35,000= 18,000 * a
a = 35,000/18,000 m/sec^2 = ~1.94 m/sec^2

Net acceleration force is 40,000 - 5,000 = 35,000

Which one is Wagon 1 and which is Wagon 2?
