If I find a penny I pick it up but it won't be worth it much longer. I hear that it costs more to make a penny than it's worth so they are thinking about not making pennies anymore. Won't that just screw everything up,our state tax will be 10 cents because I know they won't go back down to 5 cents.

I never thought about that before. But I do know 100 pennies make a dollar, so I save them anyway.

is it worth 5 cents to you to stop issuing the penny?
Business would / will round prices up if the penny is eliminated!

every penny counts. just think you are craving a cheeseburger you go up and they say your is $1.01 and they actually don't have one to spare you search everywhere in the parking lot for the one penny you need oh No this could be a tragedy only if you had that one penny. just joking:)

Yes, darn it! Without one cent being represented, people will always get less change back in stores, or they'll round up and people will end up losing money. I bet stores will never round down and don't expect the government to give us the money they used to make the penny.

And have all prices (and taxes) rounded up to the nearest five cents? Oh, they would love that...it would amount to an additional tax on the consumer. Besides, soon money will not be a physical entity, you will carry an RFID credit chip under your skin that you will swipe by a reader to make purchases.

I saw that on TV. I have my fair share in a jar
somewhere.
If they round the cost down to 98 cent, from 99 cent.
