I took a keyboarding class in high school which is where I learned to type. Having the teacher was helpful, but for the most part we used the "Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing" program, which I agree is very good. I type very well now.

Back in the 70's, the Army had a program on cassette tape with headphones. You learned 40 words a minute in two days or you got orders to go to Vietnam. Those guys learned.

Type "typing tutor program" or something like that in the search box of a website as Yahoo, Google, etc. and you'll get what you want more than you need!

Mavis Beacon is a good program. I don't know if it's still available. I've been on the site typingtest.com but I haven't tried any of them. It looks pretty good though. The site online-typing-tutors-town.com looks good too.

Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing . . . of course, the title may now be Keyboarding. Available almost anywhere and you can probably find it on eBay.

Tux Typing is FREE! Just like the OTHER 118,000 + FREE games, and programs at http://sourceforge.net
http://tuxtype.sourceforge.net/ is cross-platform for most platforms, including Mac OS X (which is actually the DarwinBSD version of Unix clone, BSD!)!
