Of course they are. One of the Ten Commandments says, "Thou shallt not kill", period. The Bible has many rules that are so strict no one can follow them. If you follow one, you may break another. When you feel guilty about all of this, pay the priest to alleviate such feelings! Fundamentalists are blind to inconsistency. They first say everything in the Bible is literally true, but they soon contradict this naive assertion when someone asks such questions as the one under discussion. Some say the Bible says you cannot kill but also says you can.

The commandment Thou shall no longer kill is meant to be rendered--Thou shall no longer homicide, huge difference. Manslaughter is killing by coincidence. In wars each and every man or woman is killed, in automobile injuries each and every man or woman is killed. homicide is even as someone walks as a lot as yet another and blows their head off with a shotgun, it is premeditated and blatant homicide. The wars that God had waged were to wreck truly depraved international locations that were corrupting Israel with witchcraft, necromancy, human sacrifices, and so on. God Himself intervened in such wars even as mandatory. maximum wars waged in God's call were executed so without God commanding them. They were human inspired tragedies without foreseeable solid popping out of them. The Crusades were hatched by the Popes of the Catholic Church. They were completely unnecessary, uncalled for and actually brutal yet see you later as they were executed less than the pretense that God approved of them, they were done and human beings cheered it. genuine toddlers of God ought to under no circumstances have subsidized the Crusades and did not. The Roman Catholic Church purely had to boost it is impression and ability into something else of the international, making use of any ability at it is disposal; thus, a set of senseless and brutal wars. The Inquisitions were also all started by the Catholic Church. tens of millions of Christians were finished by each and every hideous torture conceivable and all because the genuine Christians does no longer bow all the way down to the Pope.

sampson went to war and killed thousands and there are other instances where killing occured in the Bible like David and Goliath we as Christians grew up learning these stories. It is a rule of basic morality not to kill just for killing. When others are threatened we will defend ourselves. We have to defend the morality of the world. Killing is included in that if neccesary. I do not consider it sin to kill in a time of war as long as it is not an innocent person with no weapon or just for fun.

It's like in Dostoyevski's Crime and Punishment: A poor slob kills someone while robbing the person , kills because he is starving and need cash for food. He gets caught, he gets sentenced to death. A general (say, Napoleon) gets his army to kill a zillion people and he is a hero. Amazing. So, it seems that the "thou shall not kill" does not apply in all circumstances, especially not in case of war.

Of course they are "breaking the law". They are sinning. A mortal sin indeed.
Anything else is "adding words to God's mouth".
The ten commandments does not have any exceptions or clauses to kill.
Does the Quran support killing too?

Killings are expected to occur during wars. What do you think? To hunt an enemy down, only to give 'em a good back rub?
To kill in an act to defend the savourity of one's country is not a sin, irrespective of your religion, only the person who provoke and starts a war is.

There will be wars and rumors of wars. Mankind is full of sin, honey. Absolutely full of it. Jesus is our salvation. Because he died for our sins, anyone, and I do mean anyone can be forgiven.
Killing is of course a sin, but then there are many sins, and all of us participate, no matter what religion.
Just because you want peace doesn't mean it is going to come. I don't think that will happen till the end of time. However, I do think the end of time is getting very close.
God bless you

Wrongo.....
One of the 10 commandments is "Thou shalt not MURDER". Not the same thing.
There is also a commandment in the bible that allows you to kill someone coming to kill you. That covers war situations
Since you are such a bible expert, why are there rules for war in the bible?
