If you are uncomfortable with your caregiver then YES you should definately change caregivers. You are paying for his/her sevices and deserve to be working with someone whom you can trust and who has birthing philosophies that match your own. (I fired a doctor IN LABOR with my first...it is NEVER too late to change caregivers if you do not like the level of care you are getting.)

I dought there is anything that you can do......as you say you are eight weeks gone, and assuming you live in England, antenatal care usually starts with the booking appointment around the twelth week, so if you have seen someone already, you have been very lucky. Please be rest assured as you most probably be in the hands of a midwife or/and the hospital, who will keep a close check on things......you have nothing to be stressed about.
Please understand that a GP will find it very difficult to tell if you are pregnant in the early stages, and only the abscense of a period, a positive test result or a scan can confirm this......but if you feel better for changing your doctor then do this, after all, yours and your babys life is somewhat in his/her hands.

Its really hard to tell at first if you are pregnant or not. I didn't find out until I was 10 weeks pregnant because all my tests kept coming up negative. Its really not a big deal that you havent had any medical care. As long as you are eating healthy, take your prenatal vitamins and drink a lot of water and milk. You really havent missed much because the first visit is just medical history, then you wait another 4 weeks until another doctors appointment. You should really look into getting an OBGYN for your pregnancy. Good luck and congratulations!!!!

Change your doctor now. Let me tell you about something that happened to a co-worker.
His wife was pregnant and they were told that everything was fine. The baby was born and they were still told everything was fine but that they should bring him to the hospital if he turned blue - co-worker thought this odd but said okay. The baby did stop breathing and they brought him to the hospital and the doctor restored his breathing and said that he was fine and they should go home. Co-worker was livid - there was a problem no one was telling him about. Turned out that his baby had a heart problem that could have been diagnosed by his doctor and cured with a shot when the baby was in vitro or first born. The upshot now is that the poor baby has had six surgeries and will have a heart problem for his entire life and it could have been cured by an attentive doctor and ONE SHOT.....and the doctor who ignored this problem is now being sued.
You want the best care not only for you but for your baby. Change doctors now.

From what I understand, it is very normal and routine for doctors or midwives not to see you until later in your pregnancy. When I was pregnant recently, my midwife (who provided all my prenatal care) told me that they don't usually make a first appointment with clients until 10 -12 weeks gestation. From my discussions with other moms and reading online, this seems pretty typical. Unless there is a special reason for concern, such as previous pregnancy loss or medical conditions in the mom that might make the pregnancy high risk, you usually would not be seen until later.
So there really isn't any reason to worry about not having been seen already at 8 weeks. Certainly the early weeks of pregnancy are important, but there is little - maybe nothing - that can be done medically to affect them. At your first appointment your doctor would most likely just check your overall health, and perhaps talk to you about the importance of good nutrition, avoiding alcohol and cigarette smoke, etc.
I don't know about your earlier interaction with your doctor, but if you don't feel comfortable with him, I would consider switching. You want to have a good rapport with your caregiver and feel that he or she is responsive to your concerns and wants to listen to and answer your questions.
Good luck!

I would find a new dr on the advice of friends make an appointment on monday. Tell then the pregnancy is confirmed by the local hospital and you need to see an OB. If the Dr did not care enough to take the time to find out if you were indeed pregnant then he probably won't take the time to find out other things, necessary things. If you have to ask then YES you should find a new Dr...

look for a new doctor. I would not give a doctor who was telling I was not pregnant when I was a second chance to make a mistake. Do not worry about the baby, she or he will take what he or she need from you. just take care of yourself and the baby will be fine. I was pregnant for 2 months be for I found out and I had a healthy son 5 years ago.

You should definitely change doctors. You need to find an OB/GYN. There are a lot of tests that need to be run in the first trimester of pregnancy. You should be under serious care of a well trained doctor while pregnant, if your doctor can't even tell that you are pregnant then there is something is wrong with him.

The good news is that you and the baby appear to be fit and well and I suggest that the lack of initial diagnosis has had no ill effects.
However, if this doctor has clearly made an error, your judgement of him has clearly faltered and I suspect that has left a nasty taste in your mouth. On that basis, I really think you have to change as your confidence in this man has been affected, rightly or wrongly. I believe you can do this without giving a reason. I mean, in comparison, you woudln't go back to a mechanic that failed to spot a flat tyre!

I would definitely look for a new doctor. Try not to worry about your care up to now, though. It is important, but I didn't find out that I was pregnant for 7 weeks and now have a beautiful, healthy, 7 month old. Good luck!!!
