Physical pain goes away a lot faster than psychological pain. The all hurt - broken bones may heal, but a broken self-esteem takes a lot longer.
I disagree with the saying, but sometimes it's used to give a child strength to stay out of a fight...

I agree with it. Sticks and stones can break your bones and that's physical pain. Words can hurt you also and that's emotional pain. Yes, you can harden yourself against hurtful words or take them philosophically, but I don't believe you can totally escape the pain of words that were intended to wound you.

Well, I think you're expressing your belief in the power of words, and I agree. I hope you'll agree with me that words are even more powerful and influential when properly spelled, used, arranged, and punctuated.

If you want to make it in a tough world, you should believe it. There are many cruel and insulting people out there who will call others nasty names. But if you get called one, and you know it's not true, then why would it bother you? It just goes to prove how much better you are than them.

I agree. Words will only hurt if you let them. I know it sounds crazy, but agree with anyone who insults you. How can anybody fight with you if you keep agreeing?
