No. Some men and SOME women won't do anything without Praise, if not a tangible reward. But I think that now terribly untrue because they are too many "heroes" (yes their were heroines, as that goes without saying) saving persons lives and things since the Hurricanes hit and the Tsunami and those Earthquakes and Mudslides and a lot of the Men who are taking out their time to volunteer (not the paid workers) who were not frequented on Oprah, or the News or anything. They just came, worked hard, and left. And no one told them at the time, they be eligible for a tax deduction or anything! They did it out of compassion for fellow humans who were suffering.

No and Yes. The reward itself, for most, is in doing the deed. But do men value a good deed without something material as a reward? I think good men do. There is always an exception to the rule.

Yes, that is the case most often the time. Even to feel good after doing a good deed is a reward in itself. Why do people do charitable deeds? To feel good about themselves, and that's the reward they've expected to get.

So, a reward may not necessary be material gains.

not always, but in some scenarios that does appear to be the case. For example, a guy may think he will "get some" for taking a girl out to dinner or giving her an expensive present. I guess it's partially women's fault too; we reward them for their presents and generosity as a gesture of thanks, instead of turning down the presents or just saying thank you and moving on with our lives women feel obligated to give something back to men, thus they have come to expect a reward.

Mind you, I don't think it's right that men (or anybody for that manner) should do a good deed just to reap the benefits and rewards of doing so but rather he should do it because he knows it's either the right thing to do or he wants to...not because he'll be rewarded for it...

You cannot always tell if a good deed will bring reward. Most all people, not just men only, do good deeds because they want to, not for motives. Your question is a generalization of men and untrue for most men and women, as well.

Absolutely not. I often do good deeds simply for the good feeling it gives me. I help other people fix their computer issues at work (I am a chem teacher, not a computer tech), I go to Best Buy just to give my 10% off coupons to people who are about to make big-ticket purchases, I will give other people help on a wide variety of things for no expectation of a reward. Sometimes the reward is just knowing you have done something to make someone else's life better. I don't know where you heard that ALL men are so materialistic as to require tit for tat, but that is absolutely not the case.

No, being nice should not be done to receive a monetary award or to bring you fame or admiration. Just do it and remember when somebody did something nice for you. Not all men would do one or the other but that is what makes the world go round. Be nice and pass it on.

Well, yes and no. We all are borne with a sinful nature. Almost all of us always what something in return to what good we have done. Even if it if recognition for their works. But there are a few people who truly try to do good for others and not themselves. That's what we Christians try to do, but we too are sinful, and proud. We can never escape it, but if you have God he can help you to humble yourself before others. A lot depends on you and if you have a God that did the greatest good deed for you. Dying for your sins, and he did it all for us and not for him.

Only the shallow ones need a reward. For the most of us, a smile or a thank you will suffice.
