Bob Dylan - Great folk singer with wonderful story-telling ability! I wish I could have seen him in concert but I doubt he'll come around IA. Fave songs: Idiot Wind; those songs he did with Johnny Cash
Van Morrison - Writes great songs and also has a rambling story-telling trait to alot of his music. Songs sound good and he doesn't even make verses rhyme. Fave songs: Joe Harper Saturday Morning; Beside You; The Smile You Smile

Bob Dylan was pioneer for folk music and people worshiped him. Well, he wrote powerful lyrics. I would say, he was great. But compared to today's music, he's nothing.
Van Morrison is talented. He plays good music and his music will still be much appreciated if he still made music today.
Anyways, in my opinion, the music industry made Bob Dylan so commercialised mainy because he had 'attitude' and he had the guts to write about politics and socialism in the 70s.
He was like the Eminem of that era. And you know, controversy sells.
I just think he is handsome but hate his plain voice. I prefer Van Morrison...i can go on listening to his stuff.

Bob Dylan - great songs in 60s/70s - but the most disappointing gig I ever went to. He was rubbish - and that hurts to write that.
Van Morrison - Moondance, No Guru No Method No Teacher and Avalon Sunset (minus Cliff track) are brilliant. Unfortunately, Van is a miserable git at gigs and rarely speaks to the audience - but sings beautifully!

Of the two, I'm more of a Dylan guy, myself ; but I do have a book of Van Morrison's sheet music & some of his album 'cos I like his music & voice a lot. But at the end of the day, it's Dylan all the way!

Bob Dylan and Van Morrison are storytellers not just singers,we do not have enough artists like that anymore,my favorite person ever is Bruce Springsteen and he was even influenced by Bob Dylan. They were influenced by Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. They are both living legends in my opinion.

Dylan? Absolutely great. Van Morrison? Less so. Just not in the same league.

I love, love, LOVE Bob Dylan. HUGE fan. Poetry to music. Written all types of songs - protest, beautiful love songs, even humorous stuff (though he's not so well-known for that).
Love him or hate him - he made a huge impact on music. I was too young to be involved with the 60s/70s scene but discovered him later.
Van Morrison's done some good stuff, but Bob's my man....

I like Bob Dylan, even through his religion period in the 70s.
I know people who dote on Morrison, but I never got that deep into him.

Personal opinion - I love Dylan's lyrics- but his voice annoys me
I Love Van Morrison;s lyrics AND voice however. Just bought one of his old CDs recently - the one with Into The Mystic on it and Moondance- I have some LPs and most of them on tape and CDs but didn't have that one- Now I do ..Life is good :)He's great!
