Go to www.microsoft.com; click on Knowledge Base of the left side of the page. A search box will appear. Type the word virus in the blank beside the word "for" and click on search. You can then look at the list for the kind of virus you have, or you can do another search for the virus you have (if you can spell it). This will give you instructions on how to remove the virus.

First clear Internet Explorer's cache - in IE - tools >> Internet options >> on the General tab - choose Delete Files, put a check in the box that says "Delete all offline content" and click OK. Then go to http://www.vermontpcsolutions.com/tools_browsers.html and download Mozilla Firefox (it's a much better browser than IE). Next, download and install AVG Anti-Virus (it's free for personal use and can be found here - http://www.vermontpcsolutions.com/tools_anti_virus.html), update the anti-virus software, then disconnect from the Internet, disable System Restore (assuming you are running WinXP) - (to learn how to disable System Restore see this page - http://www.vermontpcsolutions.com/disabling_system_restore.html), boot into Safe Mode (how to boot into safe mode? see this page - http://www.vermontpcsolutions.com/how_to_start_in_safe_mode.html) and run AVG - choose the Full System Scan and let AVG do the rest!
Also, if you are not using a software firewall I recommend that you get one. A decent free version is Zone Alarm Personal Edition - you can find it here -
http://www.vermontpcsolutions.com/tools_firewalls.html
After all is said and done, turn System Restore back on and stay away from questionable websites, unknown email attachments and free software that can not be verified as safe!
Good luck!

try restoring your computer to an earlier time. putting a virus protection on your computer will also help get rid of it.
