If you are wondering what you can bring back over the border duty free, for that amount of time in the states, it is $200 worth of merchandise per person ... cannot be combined (like, if you bought one item for $400 and had two people, you would still have to pay duty on $200 of it).
This does not include purchases of tobacco or alcohol. You are allowed one carton of cigarettes per person duty free. And 40 oz of hard liquor, OR 1.5 litre of wine, OR 24, 12 oz beers.

It will depend on what you want to eat, where you want to stay, what you want to do.
You can spend as little as 10usd per person per day for food and as high as 40usd
Drinks at bars are 5 usd+ 1 usd tip. Or you can buy beer from a liqueur store and a 6 pack is maybe 8 usd
as for stay, youth hostels are cheap, maybe 25usd per person. A decent hotel is 55-70 usd for a single room with king size bed.
You have to add some money for transportation. Buses and tarin are cheap ( approx 2 USD for train trip and less than that for bus)
Prices can be 25-50% higher if you are in a place like NY

First, they discount Canadian money about 10%. After that, it depends on where you go and where you stay. Fancy hotel, somebody's couch? It's about US 100 a night at low end motels like Super 8. Meals? Sandwich at a deli runs US 4-5. Gas for the car is US gal [4qts] $3-4.

That depends on where you go and what you do. In most major metropolotian areas, the closer to the heart of the city you stay, the more it will cost. You can find cheaper places to stay further out but then you have to pay for transportation in. Each major city is different - New York is going to run you more per night than Detroit. I suggest you go to a travel web site and look at hotel rates near the city your visit. Also look at rental car rates if you are flying in and balance the cost of rental car versus hotel savings for being further out. If you drive into the US, then you may save quite a bit by staying a little further out. Also, major cities have busses and trains you can use instead of a car if you stay near a station.
The rest is entirely up to your habits and what you want to do. If you want to eat in a 5 star restraunt every meal, plan on a lot more money. If you want to eat McDonald's for every meal, count on five to seven USD per person per meal.

As much as they have, plus as much as they can get on their credit cards. Or are you asking how much can they take back across the border duty free?
