Your hard drive is totally erased, gone, done, kaput... Microsoft is known as a DISK DESTROYER and a DISK TRASHER, but, techs. use FREE tools to fix it, and recommend you do that, first!

You lost all data, in Microsoft, but, don't re-format yet!!! All your data is probably available and you could copy, save, it all, using the right tools, that are FREE!!!

Get the FREE disk of LiveCDrom Linux, that will boot in the CDrom, load in RAM, and let you copy your data files from the hard drive over to an external drive, CDR or CDR/W or DVD+-R R/W, or a newly installed drive (as a slave on that IDE cable, or, off of a SCSI or Ultra or SATA controller card, depending on what you buy)

Never hook a hard drive to an IDE cable with a CDrom. The hard drive will drop down to the slow CDrom transfer speed.

The LiveCDrom of Linux will let you see all files on the 'broken' hard drive if the drive is functional in a minimal way.

You can also try the tools in GnomeParTed that we use in our PC and MAC repair shops to restore hard drives after crashes.

Boot from ATAPI CD:ROM: Disk Boot Failure,Insert System Disk
and Press Enter"

This message is given as your primary HDD is not detected.

And this when you boot with the start up disk, the programs are not able to find the HDD on which they copy these files. The computer think that u are using any other file system such as HPFS and MTFS (those were in the past history around 1998) Due to which comp is not able to copy files on HDD.

Thus the prob is with detecting ur HDD. Ensure ur HDD(s) are plugged.

Man your situation is a bit complicated...you HDD is not being recognised by the BIOS of ur mother board. 2 reasons either bois not set correctly or HDD's a goner. in the latter case u will have to throw out the HDD & get a new one unless u r willing to go through a lot of headache.

Follow this procedure to verify the status of HDD...if one of the options is changed according to my instructions save and restart
and check if it works....else start over

1.Power the PC

2.Enter BIOS (press or on keyboard...should work unless u have some pretty exotic hardware)

3.In the BIOS options check for "BOOT DEVICE PRIORITY"
(1st boot device should be set to CD-ROM in you case change to
Harddisk name)

4.In the DEVICE OPTIONS check if your hard disk is detected.

5.If "Automatic Hard Disk detection" is available select it...computer will check for your hard disk....if new HDD is detected save and restart.

6.In IDE settings change to AUTO

if it doesnt work IM me

Google for "low level format" format your harddrive and try again.
