Faith (religious) is only the tool of those unscrupulous person that manipulate the ignorant masses to do their bidding.
The church (religious establishment) of any nation(s) is and has commonly been refered to as The 4th branch of the government, it is evident even in the USA where there is a 'separation' of church and state (ha ha ha don't make me laugh). The so called religious right (the few actually) make a big stink over something or another and attempt to sway the populace. This is easily done because so much of the population would fall in the 'simpleton' category. They use the religious trappings and fervor to whip them (the ignorant masses) into a frenzy, while in that state, they can convince them of anything, including to kill those that don't see it there way. Simple really. They also do the same thing with the phrase; "Do it for the Children." Don't get me wrong. I just wish people would research, think and come to conclusions on their own, with out others telling them what to think. There would be a lot of peace in the world.

Have you actually read the Bible or the Koran or other religions texts? The reality is that there are passages in both texts that people use to justify war and killing in the name of religion. To believers of a faith, those are holy words. Some people within a religion are fundamentalists which means they take each word and passage very literally. Other followers feel there is some room for interprutation. At any rate, you say "Muslims believe they need to fight Allah's battles" and you extrapolate that and conclude people should let the Gods fight their own battles. That is a fairly shallow view of religion and religious history. I am not Muslim, but I do not believe people of Islamic faith believe they need to fight Allah's battles; I think they believe that Allah calls them to fight the infadels. It is easy for you to sit on the side and say I am dicing words a bit; to a believer, there is a world of difference in the two views. Much is put on the Islamic faith these days because of what is happening in the world today. History, as you said, if full of other wars or other attrocities justified by or "called upon by the Lord" - the Crusades, the Inquisitions, etc, etc.
It is a difficult issue for the world to deal with because it is about the difference between very different and very passionate viewpoints. We are not discussing a border dispute; we are talking about a difference in belief. Chritians, Jews, Mulims, Hindus, etc, are not going to change each others minds. And, right now, a lot of people are not interested in finding a way to get along either. It is sad. Unfortunately, I fear we will not see an end to this war of the minds for many, many years.

I couldn't agree with you more. God doesn't need any defenders and if he needs any will appoint His own without an assist from popes, imans, prelates, kings or other potentate leaders, elected or no.
Christians were taught from the beginning that the war they were fighting was not against flesh and blood but against the rulers of spiritual darkness in high places.
You never hear anything about the thousands of Christians who refused to take up arms in WWII. Most of the preachers were preaching non-violence right up to the declaration of war and then were first in line to join up.
Holy wars are not a human thing, they are fostered by the evil one. When a man says his God called him to fight; you can be assured, in this day and age, that he has the wrong god.
Finally it is their false belief, not faith, that makes people do what they do. People who act as you describe have no faith.

I agree with you. It is sad that people will kill other people in the name of GOD. That does not make any sense. Faith is way to believe that we are here for a reason and there is an life after this one. Is way for us to try to explain everything around us and to not feel alone in this Universe.
I don't believe in holy wars. We should not have to kill others to make them believe in what we believe in. That is wrong!!! Instead we should convince others to join us through good actions, love, friendship.

Correction ,The American indians were attacked by " God Fearing Christians" .The Whie settlers slaughtered the indians as they STOLE their LAND from them. Think for a minute ,If there truly is a GOD ,Then WHY does HE LET the KILLING go on in HIS NAME.
Give me a break.

Don't loose heart. "" Faith does not operate in the realm of the possible. There is no Glory for God in that which is humanly possible. Faith begins where man's power ends. " - George Muller.
Stick to God..read The Bible regularly. Jesus coming is soon.

Do you question "faith" or people's actions regarding their faith? You can research all you want about "faith" on websites, by personal account, religion, and sometimes what you see on the news. But would you blame the actions done by people or main object of the "faith" that they believe in?

Religion is one thing. The way people interpret it is quite another. People are imperfect, they can never live up to the ideals of any religion. This doesn't mean they have to stop trying, though.
Some people prefer to bring the ideals down to their measures instead of reaching up to them. But God is very good at feeding us rope to hang ourselves with.
