Is there ANY reason BESIDES being pregnant that somebody would not get their period? I have always been a week late, for the past 2 years, but now it's been like a week and 2 days. Starting to get a little worried....only had sex ONCE since last period...was about to start birth control with this period...huh wouldn't that be ironic? Please tell me there are other things it could be.

I am 19. I have heard it can be stress and I have been under a little stress I guess...and I did try a detox diet thingy last week that only lasted like 3 days. That's all I can think of. I only had sex ONCE and and it wasn't really sex so much as we had like 30 seconds and didn't have time to make it to orgasm, not to mention we didn't have any condoms....so I am worried about pre-***, guess there can be some sperm in that. I don't know. And now I am slightly freaking out, so that's probably not helping anything if stress can be a factor.

I've lost my period once before to lack of body fat, used to be anorexic. I am skinny now I guess but NO where near where I was, so I don't think it's that. I am going to go with change in diet and stress and hope to God I am not pg. Thanks everyone!

If you've always been a week late then actually all you are is two days late with a natural 5-week cycle.
Irregular periods are quite common... my wife's cycle is quite unpredictable and over the last 5 years has varied month-on month between 26 and 38 days. This is often one month to the next, so maybe 26 days one month, 32 days the next, then 28, 35 etc etc (we started keeping a record to see if there's any pattern - there isn't!).
There are a whole host of reasons why you may be two days later this month - and yes, pregnancy is one of them! But others may include...
body weight;
diet;
stress (like stress from worrying why you're late!);
hormonal imbalances caused by all sorts of unrelated factors
... and of course your body could have just decided to give itself a few days (or even a month!) off - it happens!
Get yourself a pregnancy test kit if you're concerned that you may be pregnant (it won't stop you being pregnant if you are, but at least you will know... and the chances are you probably aren't!)
If your periods start to become increasingly irregular (which is to say more than just a couple of days one way or another) then it would be a good idea to have the doctor check you out to make sure there's no underlying cause you should be concerned about. But I suspect that you, along with many other women may just be unfortunate enough to have a body that likes to do things at its own pace!

I have been there and what I can tell you is that you may have ovarian cysts or PCOS. Look up PCOS and find out if the symptoms you are having are caused by it. I know a few people with PCOS and sometimes they can go months without a period. I hope that is not your case here. Also find out about endometriosis as the same thing might happen. Also, if you haven't been sexually active long, it just might be your body changing. I had that too when I began having sex. I had late periods or no periods for a while. Get a pregnancy test if you think you might be pregnant. I hope I have helped. Good luck!

There are numerous things that could cause your period to be late....... stress, change of weight, change in eating/exercise habbits. . . Then there is more of a medical reason it may be late...hormonal imbalance, thyroid, medications, illness, infection, polyp, cyst, amongst other reasons. Best bet is take that Pregnancy test and find out for sure!

It sounds hormonal.
The #1 hormone - because it can affect the production of all the other hormones - is insulin. Ask your doctor for a fasting insulin blood test . Ask for a copy of your results. 10 or higher is abnormal for an adult.
Also ask for a saliva test. This test will tell you if any of your feminine hormones are not at the best levels. I do not like doctors who prescribe hormones for any feminine problem without testing first. When that happened to me - the shot he gave me switched me from low blood sugar to diabetes.
Your symptoms (all of them) could be related to low blood sugar. They sound quite like mine, the weight gain, the easy stressing. You may want to check out www.hufa.org, and click on the symptoms link to check yourself out.

Could be stress or ovarian cysts that cause the delay or a many number of other things, either way you should see your gynecologist to make sure there are no serious issues. Good luck hun :)

Lots of other things. Stress for one. Change in hormones. How old are you? But it only takes once unfortunately. Good luck.

maybe due to hormonal level imbalance caused by diff. factors like temperature, stress, more intake of alcohol or cigarette, change of place or lesser physical activity. Walking or jogging would help.
Ask a friend for a couple os mile.

no worries, you're probs not pregnant, best thing is to do a pregnancy test.
i have irregular periods, but apparently there's nothing wrong, i had my last period begining of May, (i'm not sexually active), so don't worry it's just how you ovulate.
