For women who have been pregnant:

I'm 34 weeks pregnant and I've been experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions for some time now. When my uterus contracts, it is noticably not in the "center" of my abdomen. It leans to the right significantly. I asked my dr. about it, and he said, "The baby favors your right side. It's nothing to worry about." I trust him, but I want to know if anyone else has experienced this.

It really looks odd when it contracts, but looks normal when it's not contracted....it cracks my husband up because my "belly button isn't where it should be." LOL

Has anyone else experienced the same thing? Is this "normal?"

Yup! I've had it with both pregnancies now. I'll lay on my left side to try and get him to move, but the baby just moves back once I'm up straight for any length of time. It looks funny, but it's perfectly normal.

Normal. The baby is probably laying to one side...the side that looks bigger.

Pay attention to where your caregiver finds the heartbeat at your next appointment. Pay attention to where you feel kicks and punches or hiccups. Feel your belly and feel for the firm round parts that are the head and butt. If you are pushing on the head, it will kind of "bounce back" when you press. (Think of how your head would move when pushed against as opposed to your butt.) This can all help you to determine what position your baby is in. (My MW used to draw the baby on my belly with washable markers fo my kids could see how big the baby was and how she was laying!)

You can do some pelvic rocking to try to encourage the baby to be in a good position and to make yourself more comfortable if you're feeling like things are getting crowded in there.
