These have been typed as i would pronounce them not how they are spelt.

Marhaba is hello
marsalama means goodbye
moya is water
inshallah means god willing
bukkrah means tomorrow
keef hallik means how are you
kwaize means good
ileum means today
fi means have
allum means pain
henna means here
shukran means thankyou
afwan means your welcome

A typical greeting would then go:- Marhaba, keef halik (hello how are you) Reply would be: kwaize, hamdillilah (Good thanks to god)

and one extra that I don't suppose you will need but you never know:-
Fi booraz ileum - Have you had a sh** today?

Glad you asked that question I haven't used arabic for 25years when I was an English Nurse in Saudi Arabia. Aghhhh them were the days, it was brilliamt and the money was fantastic. Wish I'd bought lots of property in London then, I could be a retired millionaire now. If i think of anymore i will post them.

Ana mush bariff ut kullum araby = I don't speak arabic

Quais = OK (egyptian arabic)

Zayn = OK (gulf arabic)

Mush Quais = Not OK

La = No

La-a = No (with emphasis)

El Foonduk (name)= Hotel (name)

Pyramids = Hotel Pyramids

El Haram meen fudlik = The pyramids please

Try a phrase book, or the CD "in flight arabic" that should give you enough to raise a smile.

Most tourist spots will have plenty of people who speak english.
