Speeding laws - they need to get rid of them in some places like highways, but make obtaining a license easier.
Death penalty - no collective group of voting should have the right to take another man's LIFE.
Drug laws - people should have the right to choose what they put in their own body. Marijuana should not be illegal, because it is completely harmless - other drugs maybe should remain illegal, but there is no reason to outlaw drugs that are legal in other countries, have never killed anyone, and are natural plants.
Taxes - they're too expensive and citizens should be allowed to choose where their money is going - and the government just wastes it all.
I hate the government. Vote for a Libertarian society.

I don't know about areas, however there are some issues at law that need to be changed.
1. "ignorance of the law is no excuse for violating the law" should be done away with, if no one is directly harmed, physically, in their property, or financially (in any significant way, more than $50) then you should be allowed to plead not guilty because of ignorance. There are more than 10,000,000 laws, statutes and regulations in the United States including a seldom enforced law banning the possession of more food or any one food stuff than you can reasonably consume in a year.
2. Judges have ruled repeatedly that if you ask advice and guidance from a governmental agent and their advice is wrong, then that is your fault and cannot be used as a defense because while it is inexcusable for you an average citizen to not know, understand and obey all laws, it is not the responsibility of agents charged with enforcing the laws to understand them or even to be aware of them.
Clearly, both of these examples show that there is a need for sweeping reforms with in our legal system to make it a justice system again, instead of the equity system it has become.

All laws need to be reformed over time. The problem is this New Labour lot has brought in so many stupid laws. Human Rights need looking at crime and the justice system just a few,but all need a looking at.

First of all a codified constitution, as the British constitution is uncodified and has so many grey areas.
Also the Human Rights Act needs to be sorted out as it is getting absurd people are using it when in theory they really shouldn't be.
Make sentences longer as the penal system in this country is a joke.
Build more prisons so that when offenders break the law the judge can actually send them to prison rather than tagging them or giving them community sentences.
And why? So that thugs don't walk around thinking that they can get away with committing crimes all the time and to wipe their smug grins of their faces.

sentencing. Get rid of this automatic halving of sentence for a guilty plea. Have some kind of 'discount' but not 50%!! Granted it saves court time and saves the witnesses having to testify, but christ!! half a sentence?!! Sentencing also needs to be tougher, criminals are laughing at the time for some crimes. Wheres teh deterrant? its definately not in the length of sentence, and its definately not in the conditions of prison.
Awarding of compensation. Too many people are getting sued and losing for silly little things. Since when did we become like america?! (ok silly question, it was when Blair came to office as the governer of the 53rd state)

Stupid areas such as the unenforceable law on driving while holding a mobile phone to your ear. If they can'rt enforce it, don't bring it in. I think the law could be sensible, but the police and the public should be empowered to actually report people doing this heinous crime.

Truth in sentencing would be first on my list.
Tax law would be a very close second.
