Nursing can pay up to $100,000 a year if you are willing to move to where the money is.... The money is wherever there is a shortage of nurses.
I lived in NC for a while during a nursing shortage. They were paying $56 an hour, Paying the lease on the car and the apartment for the nurses who agreed to a one year contract at that pay.
It can be very lucrative.
If you are not into nursing, another profession on the grow is accounting. The pay scale is lower than the extravagant nursing pay rate, but is still quite respectable.
Good luck with your studies, It is hard to go back to school. You are setting a wonderful example for your kids. Congratulations mom.

There are a lot of fields that pay pretty well right now. The KEY is to look at yourself and see what you enjoy. If you don't like medicine, then you probably won't like nursing. Yes you'd make good money, but you'd be doing something you don't like, and that will ultimately hurt your performance in the end.
However, if you take some general business classes, which are used in all fields, that would be a good start. If you want to get your feet wet on the medical side, you could mix in a medical terminology course.
Students in college eventually find their path, but many go in with no idea whatsoever as to what they want in the end. Taking some business classes like accounting, economics, and management helps in literally anything you go into. Once you're there and take an introductory class or 2, you generally find something you truly enjoy.

Taking accounting classes at a junior college level can lead to a position in the college's business office. Check out the job listings at the colleges and you will be surprised how much money they make an hour. Some job listings can be found in the personnel office, or job listings found in student services. THEY get paid well and they also get benefits.
I know for a fact that the current Mission College president started out as a student worker, which is a student who is enrolled full time (12 semester units or more) and works in the college for a desinated time. This usually only lasts for until the semester ends, but this can lead to something promising.
