It's about money...the illegal copies are cheaper or free...people are often willing to bend/break rules and laws if it will save them money and no harm appears to be being done to anyone...the idea is that the actors, movie companies, etc are quite rich and lay people need a break so it's okay to copy movies, music, etc if all that's being broken are copyright laws...
Doesn't make it right, but I do believe that's how many see it...

I would guess it has to do with peoples moral judgement.
The reasoning probably goes along the lines of, I borrow a friends DVD, then I copy it, I then give it back. He still has it, but I have on as well. Because the original still exists, what's been stolen?
After all the copy DVD is mine in the first place! It's a tough one to change in people/society. All this leads to an incorrect reasoning that no one looses out and it is only a little crime.
I used to work for the police! Even one of my colleagues brought in a laptop and was copying CDs for others. What hope does the rest of society have!

Well I think people think they have a right to take certain things - after all music and films are works of art which some could argue should be shared with everyone.
Also, people get sick of being ripped off by multinationals for expensive DVDs so maybe they're getting they're own back.

What is the point of going to the cinema
When you might as well wait when it comes on D.V.D when it comes out in 4-5 months time!
I will never buy a illegal D.V.D but many people I know download it from Internet.... for free....
I bet you tape music from radio or Album when you were a little!

Is it socially acceptable? It is theft. The fact is, if people can get away with it, they will. It really is a sad state of affairs when the cinemas ask you to report it and then do nothing about it.

I do not own any illegal DVD's because it goes against my personal values.
But I am also not going to get into someone else's personal business.

because we realise the government dont deserve the tax and the production company has enough money already so we keep it and get the one where we dont pay for a war when buying a movie about peace

every time my older brother brings a illegal DVD into my house my mom's afraid that the police or something will raid our house and send us to jail or something, My brother just says to her he didn't make it he just bought it so it's not his problem it's the guy whose making and selling them who should get in trouble.
