A spider has a very important role in the ecosystem. It eats other more harmful bugs, especially mosquitoes. The most humane and human thing to do is to put a large jar over it, take a thin card and slip it under to get the spider in the jar. Then leave the jar outside for him to crawl out. If you're quick like I am, you can get him to crawl onto a newspaper and throw it outside. Don't kill it as some here have suggested. Like you, they too have a right to live. And they do perform a very crucial job.

"Looks poisonous"? The only ones that are obviously poisonous are the black widows, and they only show it on their underside, as I recall. So I suspect it is emotional content that causes it to look poisonous to you. Still, the heel of a shoe is a most effective remedy.

try lysol tub and tile cleaner foam, or any other lysol product. Something about spiders and lysol. The foam is great because the spider has a hard time getting out of it.

Put an upside-down small jar or a glass over it, then stick a piece of thick paper underneath so you can carry it outside and throw it to Kingdom come

Kill him, stomp on him, or you can get a old plastic bowl or something and put over him and then put a book on top of the bowl so he can't squeeze out. then you can wait for someone else to kill him. that's what I do!

If it looks poisonous, kill it. If it doesn't, put it back outside.
