I did a considerable amount of research on the H3 and the Toyota FJ Cruiser recently. The H3 is built on the Colorado pickup truck frame.

Snippets from reviews from current H2 owners. There were about 50 or so owner reviews that I read and these came up over and over.
Cons:
Visibility/Blindspots
Gas Mileage - Sticker is way overstated
Rear seats do not fold down
Weak accelleration
2 recalls

Pros:
Looks
Handling
Sound System
Roomy Interior

After comparing these two, I picked the FJ. Most of the pros are the same on the H3 and FJ except the seats fold down and the accelleration is decent. After driving them both, the FJ has a bit of a nicer ride. I picked the FJ because of Toyota's history and reputation, the gas mileage is slightly better (not much) and I got a nicely equipped one for just above the cost of the base model H3.

Sorry, but I don't have much good to say about it. It's based on the Colorado mid-size pick-up chassis, which is widely regarded as the worst mid-size pickup on the market & gets lousy gas mileage (no where near what's on the sticker). Plus the Hummer has more blind spots. You would be MUCH better off with a Nissan Pathfinder (which is better off-road as well), a Toyota 4runner (or FJ Cruiser), or Nissan Frontier pick-up. The H3 is all about "image" and nothing about quality or performance.
