This internet law is not about the Human rights act.
I am more personally concerned about internet censership. On the interent we can frelly express are selves regardless of age, gender, size, how we look, skin colour etc. with out having to worrying about what other people think. (unlike todays world).
Secondly the more infomation that is blocked the less we learn the more questions go unanswered and the slower we as a race advance.
i am pretty sure lots of people know how it feels to forget how to make something. You look in every book but still no answers then you check the interent there is your answer
the idea that by blocking certain infomation stops people doing things they like etc and the internet comes in handy for people to play games on anyway.
Dont get me wrong pornography should be "blocked" but everything else has some use left.

Thank you for the heads up on the article. I read it.
I am totally against censorship of any kind.
When you block information from someone, you are in essence saying to them, "I know what is better for you than you do". I think everyone is capable of making that decision for themselves. People who practice censorship are actually afraid of someone acquiring knowledge.
I have read that in order for some companies to get into certain countries they had to agree to a form of censorship. While I totally disagree with the censorship, in that case their foot is in the door and it's a beginning. Eventually the shackles on knowledge in those countries will be broken.
As for Microsoft giving personal information about an individual without their knowledge or permission, many companies do that all the time. Does that make it right? No, but be aware that it is done with all of our personal information continually from tracking our credit transactions to our medical records. From birth to death you are on record somewhere and being tracked in between.
Computers are a tool - they are not good or bad in and of themselves. But they are here to stay and everyone should be able to access the information on them at any time. Who can say how the human race will progress if that were true?

Internet censorship is essential. Human rights is not the universal panacea to nation-building. Example: teen porn is a gross violation of the rights of teenage children. Why is porn freely propagated on the net? For whose benefits? It is criminal yet flourishes under the hallowed banner of "freedom of expression". What hypocrisy!!

governments of the world cannot allow the Internet to continue as it is. they cannot allow free thought, because ' the great unwashed ' (us) might become wise to what's going on.
how can a government feed you their own propaganda on who's the bad guy and who's the good guy, when there is all this information available.
I've wonder how long it was going to take.
