It is easy to say the human evolved from an ape. However, that is an over simplification that a child might understand. An over simplification that could lead to misunderstanding. Some people are so simple minded that they have no patience or maturity to see the story all the way through. The real truth is a bit more detailed and complicated than that.

The gorilla, chimpanzee, orang-utan, and human are all very different animals. They may look similar to us but make no mistake -- we are all very different species. We did NOT descend from the same roots. However. Here is the big however. Before us came OUR predecessors Cro Magnon Sapiens. This is a nick name for a sapiens found in France. Sapiens killed off Neanderthal from 50,000 [in Asia] to 30,000 [in Europe] years ago.

A lot of people think Neanderthal is a sub species of sapiens and was one of our ancestors but that is not so. They descended from Australopithecus like us but are not from the Erectus line we came from. Also it is a myth that we assimilated Neanderthal genetically. The sad truth is we out competed them into extinction. No Cro magnon ever mated with a Neanderthal. Neanderthal is genus homo but is its own species.

See. http://www.psu.edu/ur/NEWS/news/Neandertal.html

Imagine if you go back in time as today with the gorilla, chimpanzee and orang-utan. There were several "human-like" creatures [genus homo] that lived and existed side by side. We were all very similar. We all had the same ancient ancestors.

Homo erectus [believed to be sapiens' ancestor] [used fire and advanced broken stone tools] and its ancestor was Australopithecus [used unbroken rocks as tools] a more ape-like creature and the first ape to walk upright. Before Australopithecus is the upright mammal Ramapithecus.

Homo habilus existed between Homo erectus and Cro magnon Homo sapiens and this creature made better tools.

We are all that is left of our line. We are the only example left of genus homo and in that genus we are the sole surviving species.

Our line is not that of species chimpanzee or gorilla or orang-utan. Does that make sense?

To answer your question properly we have to change it a bit. Your question should be more like, "Is that correct to believe that in pre history more ape-like animals evolved into the human animal?" The answer is yes.

Did we evolve from the gorilla, chimpanzee, or orang-utan? The answer is no.

We not only evolved from ape-like creatures. . .we ARE ape-like creatures. BUT and I mean but a very specialized kind of ape-like creature more advanced than any other. Also and in a sense we have evolved out of being an ape-like creature. Today the human is a totally different kind of creature. Make no mistake though, we are animals and part of the animal kingdom no different than any other zoo animal. The difference is that some of us "THINK" we are special. Some of us "THINK" we are not part of the animal kingdom. Some of us that is.

People need to know the theory behind evolution before they ask stupid questions. Humans and Apes evolved from the same type of living thing, but took two different paths. Humans didn't evolve directly from Apes.

A common misconception.

In fact, one theory is that apes and humans evolved from the same genetic precursors, but no one seriously suggests that what we call apes today evolved into humans, or else why would there still be apes?

If it makes sense to you, believe it. Otherwise, believe something else. Evolution is not a religion, it's science, so it's not a matter of faith.

And to clarify, the apes that are around today are, just like human beings, descendants of an early ape that existed a very long time ago. We didn't evolve from chimps.

It is correct to say that apes and humans share a common ancestor. But then again horses and humans also share a common ancestor.

What are you so petrified of which you forget approximately on the subject of the reality?!! Primates are mammals that comprise lemurs, monkeys, apes and people. The Strepsirrhini, or “moist-nosed” primates, which comprise lemurs and lorises, branched off around sixty 3 million years in the past. previous worldwide monkeys and apes divided from New worldwide monkeys approximately 40 million years in the past. Aegyptopithecus zeuxis, which in all risk resembles the uncomplicated ancestor of latest worldwide monkeys and apes, lived approximately 29 million years in the past. The apes chop up from previous worldwide monkeys approximately 25 million years in the past. people and chimpanzees diverged 5-7 million years in the past. Of the macaque's virtually 3 billion DNA base pairs, ninety 3.5 in line with cent are comparable to those in the human genome. this isn't unpredicted for a species whose lineage diverged from our own approximately 25 million years in the past. The human and chimp genomes, which diverged in basic terms 6 million years in the past, are approximately ninety 8 in line with cent comparable. One perplexing discovery is that numerous mutations that reason genetic ailments in people - which includes phenylketonuria and Sanfilippo syndrome, which bring about psychological retardation - are the conventional form in macaques and, possibly, our own ancestors. So on each and each chop up the unique have been given left in the back of to stay because it exchange into! the 1st genuine hominid has been shown to easily approximately unquestionably arrived in the finished Rift Valley yet as a manufactured from evolving from this is monkey and ape ancestry!! in lots of techniques attempting to disclaim those info is worse than the creationinsts fantasies!! the two teach a desire to forget approximately on the subject of the reality!! .

Wouldn't it be nice if it were that simple? My kid used to tease each other with "hey your a big fat ape", but in reality we have very distinct evolutionary paths.

Well your only two options are to believe that or go on blind faith of creation. I personally lean toward evolution because we have solid tangible evidence it. Whereas faith is...well faith.
