You can try local honey. It works for me, but my allergies aren't that bad. The theory is if you buy honey produced in your locality, it contains the pollens that causes your allergies. By ingesting them it gives your body a chance to build up an immunity to them--or rather recognize them--so you don't suffer from sneezing and watery eyes and so forth. It isn't a quick fix, you pretty much need to keep eating the honey year round to get the effect, but that's not a problem if you like honey!

There is some mention of asthma and allergies in the diet books that approach diet by way of reducing insulin production, as insulin production has an effect on the production of a lot of other chemicals and hormones, including histamines and anti-histamines.
You may want to check out the library link at www.hufa.org for more info on diets that control blood sugar which is how you control insulin production.

This is going to sound weird but most local health food stores carry local bee pollen. It helps you build an immunity to the allergies in your local areas. I'm sure that they also would sell bee pollen from other areas than where you live but they are far less effective than bee pollen that is local.

Hi! I have had wonderful success treating my sons allergies and mine with Nettles and Flax seed oil, both of which have an antihistamine, and adding Licorice and/or Hyssop on high allergy days. I also add Chammomile at night, as it helps him sleep as well. I am at windstarhealing.com if you have any questions
