i'm connected directly to the internet through the router... but im still getting a wired connection... and like every 30 minutes or so it will lose connection and then 15 seconds later i wont do anything and it will come back on?it will say a network cable is unpluggged and then it will say local area connection is at 100 mbps???

Sounds like the router is rebooting itself every 30 minutes (that's why you get the "network cable unplugged..." error message). Try shutting it off for 20 or 30 minutes and then plug it back in, see if that helps.

But you may need a new router; I have been seeing a lot of them crap out lately, especially Linksys routers for some reason...

Oh, the 100mbps message is just how fast the connection between your computer and the router, not the speed of the internet connection itself.

Note: I'm an internet support tech, so I do this for a living... in fact, I'm finishing up an overnite shift right now.

It could be of three reasons,

1. Your cable is loose at one of the ends

2. Your router is booting up.

If its exactly at 30 minutes interval, its a router problem. Check with other users who are connected to the router, if there are.

3. A virus

u know the cable u connect ur pc with is a bit lose it so u need hold it tight into ur computer i mean not to hold with ur hand but make it that it doesnt move then ur problem will be solved also check the cable which is fitted into the router it happens with me all the time

Go to control panel - network connections - disable the connections you dont use by right clicking them and you can also do a repair of the connection. Might just be a confusion between different connections.

2. verify /block other entering in your account
