As a Christian, I do believe that God brought the Jews back to the land he once gave to them.
That does not mean, that I support Israel's politics 100%.
Regarding what is happening in Lebanon now though, I have to say that I think most people don't really understand what is happening. Israel is not fighting Lebanon but rather Hezbollah who has become very powerful in Lebanon, almost like a state within the state. The Hezbollah is a threat not just for Israel but also for the Lebanese people.
I feel for the civilians who are caught in the middle of this conflict but I see the necessity to disarm Hezbollah.

I'm not a Christian. I follow Eckankar. I'm not a Republican. I'm a Liberterian. Long way from the religious right!
But I support Israel! Israel gave the Palestinians, Hizbollah, and Hamas all kinds of concessions and ceasefires to end the conflicts. The Muslim groups only used the good will of the Israelis to build up their aresenals, while continuing the rocket attacks and suicide bombings.
You shouldn't think that just because the religious right is in favor of something that it is automatically wrong. (Even though it ususally is!)

Of course they don't have to always support Israel! There are self-named Christians who still run around saying that the Jews killed Christ!
I do link myself with those groups and I do happen to support Israel in this latest military move. But not because they tell me to! It is from my own reading of history. I do try to read histories written from both points of view so I can compare them. I understand that many Muslims have been taught a history that includes the whole ancient Kingdom of Israel as being a Jewish myth, not reality. Of course their version and Hollywood's version of the crusades seems to disagree with 3/4 of the histories I have read also! I also agree with the whole U.N. giving Israel to the Jews thing after WWII. Because of these beliefs I am led to support Israel.
As a Christian I just pray for all of them and have faith that God is allowing this horrible war for some greater purpose.

I'm Jewish, & I don't necessarily support everything Israel does. Them giving away land for peace? I do not support that at all. Just ask the American Indians if trading land for peace is effective.
An Israeli lfe, or the life of an innocent Lebanese is one life too many.
Having said that, I do support Israel defending itself & seeking to rescue it's soldiers, & creating safety buffer zones to stop Huzbullah's rocket attacks.
It's ok to question things, as you're doing. Just know that all this has been prophesied in our Scriptures.

Does God ask all Christians to agree on everything?
If so, then there should only be one church. But God loves variety.
If we never question anything, the beliefs are not truly our own. Even when studying scripture we are told to search them to better understand the truth.
We are not robots. We are given a mind to think things through and to decide for ourselves. Even after we have decided what to support, we have to decide how we are going to support it.

As of any religion I know of, God gave the man the intelligence to choose between good and evil. It's up to every single person to decide which way to follow, and based on that his/her judgement towards other people acts will be based on.

You can support what you want. Your position in the political scheme of things just means the way you usually think.
It doesn't mean that you have to accept everything that the extremist of the political scheme thinks.
