I am installing a pergo floor in my basement. The floor is concrete and I want to put the floor down with minimal effort. WHat tools do I need and do I need to put down subflooring?

Sean is right on the money, however you will need a skill saw to make rip, and cross cuts. A jig saw to cut around door jambs, and other obstacles. Some masking tape over the pergo before you cut it, will make it easier to mark, and reduce chipping on the cut edge.
It really is easy.

You will need to rent a saw that will cut a notch in the bottom of any door facings. The Pergo goes under the facing so you don't have to trim it there.

The tool rental store can help you with the baseboard saw.

As far as sub flooring Pergo floats so you don't need sub flooring it your floor is in good shape but you want a good vapor barrier.

Be sure you have the new Pergo that snaps together & doesn't have to be glued.

you dont need any special tools. You need to have a plastic vapor barrier if it going over a concrete floor though. a standard saw will suffice for the cutting and i usually use a small rubber mallet and a tapping block to carefully join the planks. its easier than you think. good luck.
