The colors are right but a little more explanation might be helpful. the reason the red is for blood is because the barbers use to be the only surgerons in old towns. Mostly it was pulling teeth but in a pinch they also removed bullets and set bones. Aren't you glad you live today instead of then? Pain killer was generally whiskey as that was all they had.

Time to get a hair cut, no not really the swirl in world war 1 was the actual signs for a med station where you could get aid and a hair cut, then in the early part of world war 1 they chose to go to a red cross so they abandoned the swirls, and the hair cutting stayed..

the swirl comes from bloodstained cloth that would be used when the barber was performing a surgery and where then hung up and twisted themselves into a spiral.
