Yes. My Steve committed suicide on December 16, 2005, and left me here to face it all alone. Do you know how hard that is? First there are sheriff's deputies and coroner's deputies all over the place, then you pay a huge amount to Crime Scene Cleaners, Inc., to cut out the bloody carpet, then you get your favorite large crystal ripped off by the guy who put in the new piece of carpet, then you have to somehow get through the memorial service with people all saying how sorry they are and a bunch of other comments of doubtful sincerity . . . OK, I'm running on. But you get the point. That was just in the first week. Then I had to basically re-invent myself. I had been part of a pretty effective team, and now I must go it alone.

Even if you don't leave a spouse or lover behind, you leave behind parents or children, friends, people who will feel guilty that they did not do something to prevent your suicide, people who will always blame the one closest to you for "driving him to it," etc. It's just totally unfair to those around you.

None of the above is intended to refer to those with terminal illnesses and severe pain. That, I think, anyone would understand and forgive.

It is often a very mean and nasty thing to do to the people left behind. People thinking about suicide should stop and think about that first. There are many cases where young people use suicide to escape from a difficult life. Everyone would be better off if they just ran away to find a new life.

But I think there are cases when it is a blessing, like ending a painful terminal illness. We give our pets the right to an end to torment. We should extend that right to humans in the same situation.

The debate about whether suicide is brave or cowardly is a simple one: to take your own life is pretty brave, true, but the whole point is to escape reality and avoid dealing with the huge problems in your life.

There are plenty of people who go through life with far greater troubles than those who commit suicide and they just get on with it. No problem is so big if you really consider it thoughtfully and logically.

So my opinion is that yes, it is a bad thing; the pain and suffering for those bereaved by suicide isn't considered by the perpetrator of the crime and there's clearly no thought to state of affairs left behind.

I hate it when people ask stuff like this. The majority of the people who commit suicide really should not kill themselves. They are usually the ones who are brilliant, funny, smart, and hold charmed lives. I've witnessed a lot of suicides, and it hurts every single person who considered them a friend. For example, I knew a 13 year old girl who wrecked her mom's life by taking away her own. Her mother never recovered. Don't commit suicide, it's a horrible thing to do.

Not for the person committing it, but it is for the family and friends. Especially those who have had no experience with depression or loss and don't know the signs; they never saw it coming so it is really hard for them to deal with. I don't mind the euthanasia type suicides for those who are suffering from terminal illnesses since that is the road they are heading down anyway. Why should they have to suffer longer than they should? We do it to animals and consider it an act of kindness, why does that only apply to animals and not the people who are making the rules that they use on said animals? Logic....Good question!!

Yes it is.Every suicide proofs that we as human beings failed to make another ones life livable. We should all feel responsible for that in my opinion.
I respect every ones choice to end their live but that doesn't mean I don't regret it.I'm a humanist and regret every loss of human life.
In most cases suicide feelings are not really toughed trough and the victim is not mentally able at the time to make any though through decision on life and dead. That's why I will always try to prevent it even tough I strongly believe in the right of everyone to decide he or she wants to die.

Like the Necromongers in "The Chronicles of Riddick" I believe that there is a right time for anyone to die. I don't believe death comes just because we call, and if you saw the ghastly mess that results from some botched suicides, you would perhaps reconsider.

If you are feeling suicidal my advice is to talk to someone. Go to the drugstore and talk to the pharmacist, or one of the suicide prevention hotlines. Trust me, there are worse things than life.

It is a very selfish, self-centered weak thing to do. If you have gotten to a point in your life that is so horrible you don't think you can deal with it any more, think about the people who love you dealing with losing you. And if that is not enought o change your mind you are a extremely selfish person. Also it is giving up and taking the easy way out. And worse of all, you lose. You lose everything, your life, everyone you have ever loved, your dignity.

Life is given to you by God and your ownership of it have some limits and rules. You only have the right to direct your life-by your decision, character etc. otherwise your whole life lies in God's hand. And if you commit a suicide it is a real sin. It also has it's after-effects on people near you.
I've experienced these sort of feelings and now I even regret of thinking to do so.
God Bless You.
