This seems to be shown with the hatred they show when England are in any sporting event , however the English generally give support to them on the rare occasions they qualify for anything

Yea, they hate us hugely, when most people here don't hate them at all. Their arrogance and complete hatred is beginning to change that though. We are Scotland's oldest enemy, we have beaten them in battle, occupied them and now they feel like they are under the control of a country they hate, which is why they are begging for independence. Of course, no Scottish government would ever try to separate themselves from a country they are economically dependant on, so there seems to be no end to it for the Scots. What is ironic though, is that we have very little say about Scotland these days while they have a large say about what happens in England and Wales.
I think they hate that we are the biggest, richest and most successful of the three countries. I think they think we are inferior, and consequently our success and omnipresence gets right up their noses.

you come on hear to prove your ignorance by asking a question like that then wonder why the english are hated by everyone(not just the scots) the fact is the scottish are far better people than the english will ever be so why dont you go out and try an get an education and a life

they do seem to hate the english for no real reason if they had a real reason then i'll like to hear it and i hope its not just about the times long ago when the english invaded because thats been and gone and i hope we've moved on from that, i know a lot of people who are scottish i meet them all the time and i have no problem with them althrough nearly all deep down dislike the english but i do not know why

i'm scottish and don't feel inferior to the english - though questions like this certainly make me generalise all the english to be a huge pile of fudds
but you're only one person and obviously a bored kid so i wont lump you all into the same pigeonhole

well i think the english had more power back then and they used to abuse the scottish ... it was horrible and the scottish havent recovered............ yet
