A car may look nice,new,but lift the hood "No Engine"

Actully that is "less"than meets the eye,

Like a hollowed out book,looks like a book but open it $400.00 inside

"There is more than what meets the eye", means that what you see is not fully what exists. There is a lot more hidden from us.

Not what you see...may be like glacier...you see this little thing floating on water and it 2 miles across underwater...or one more example ..when i was in Tae-Kwon-Do...one of the smallest..5'4" 100 lbs soaking wet girl..was a 1st degree black-belt and was one of the toughest in more ways then one in the class...two hour workout and she was barely breaking a sweat

It means that there is more to something than you can see, like an iceberg. Most of an iceberg is under water where you can't see it. Usually, it is used to say that there is more going on than we know about.
