If you cover the whole island, 2 days is enough. 1 week is too long and if you are a city dweller, you are eager to go back to Adelaide.
Last January, I did a one day tour in Kangaroo Island. Its a 2 hours bus trip to Jervis port where we board the ferry bound for Kangaroo Island. I enjoyed my 2 hours bus trip because of the Lofty Hills and the vineyards (Mclaren Vale) that we passed by. I found the hills amazing coz one hill after another, it has great scenes. The first hill ive seen are full of sheeps , then the other hill has full of cows , then the other hill has sheeps and cows. I enjoyed it. Then we traversed thru grape vineyards, lolive vineyards and then a vacant lot with kangaroos and then another vacant lot with colourful birds. Its just scenic.
But the ferry ride is a real trauma to me. Its the first time that ive been so seasick. The waters are so rough that giant waves rocked the ferry left and right.
But after we sailed thru and getting to our tour bus, the Australian bus rider is so hilarious t/o the entire trip. You can ask him a lot of Aussie things and he will delightfully respond in an hilarious way. We've seen lots of kangaroos, koalas, magpies, wallabies, seals, fur seals, osprey and eucalyptus flowers. There's one kangaroo who even approached us and we are all taking photos of him and she seem to pose for us all. So cuteeeeeeee.
But the star of the show is the Remarkable Rocks. The moss covered rocks looks great in our pics. Unfortunately, we didnt cover some parts of the island which could have been if we stayed one more day.
Have a nice trip over there. Its definitely a must see in South Australia. ANother recommendation is Barossa Valley. If you happen to drop by Lyndoch Bakery, try their danishes. Its so deliciousssssssss!

To really appreciate Kangaroo Island you should at least spend a weekend there. But if you have limited time then you can see most of it in a day You can also arrange to go on a tour group that takes you around the island and it is very informative. We went on one last year and I was very impressed. To find out more visit the South Australian Tourist Bureau or go into Rundle Mall and visit the Information Booth and they should tell you what you can do and see on Kangaroo Island But you should spend some time in our wonderful state. We have some of the best wine companies here in the Barossa and on the way to the Kangaroo Island Ferry why don't you stop in Mc laren Vale and try some of the local bakeries and wineries. If you like Almonds you can stop at the Almond train just in Mclaren Vale. It's really worth the stop. I know about this area as I only live about 20 mins away from there
