Jorge S. is right on.
Dozens of studies in social psychology have shown the effects of attractiveness. For example, looks determine how you're perceived by others. This is one conclusion drawn from "Attribution Theory."
Karen Dion did a study where parents were shown photos of attractive and unattractive children. They were told that some of the children had misbehaved in school. The parents, inevitably, pick the unattractive children as the offenders, even though, in reality, none of the children in the photos had misbehaved.
I could go on, but you get the idea.
In an interestng study, it was also shown that just being with an attractive person can increase one's status in the perception of others. An average looking man who is accompanied by a very attractive woman is believed to be more intelligent, sophisticated, and attractive than he really is.
Finally, unattractive women were allowed to communicate with men, but they were in separate cubicles and couldn't see each other. The men were shown a picture of an attractive woman, and they were told that they were talking to the woman in the picture. Not only did they treat her differentially, but, after the experiment was over, the women scored higher on self-image tests.

If you rushed to go out and had no time as look as good as you would, then yes, it can affects how you feel. Dressing well is important as it makes you feel good and thus you walk with pride and your poise is presented as someone who has confidence, and is neat and tidy. It reflects their personality as a person. Appearance is important as other people tend to judge you on the way you dress and the way you carry yourself.. This is particular so when going for a job interview. Although people shouldn't "....judge a book by it's cover" as the saying goes- it is a fact that people are judged by their 'covers" (appearance). Appearances for some companies are important because those persons are representing them.

Appearence may influence peoples perception about a perso at the first sight, but there is no relation between appearance and personality. Even the most handsome/beautiful can be dumb, and the not so beautiful/handsome can have a good personality.
Anyways, Enjoy Life.

It shouldn't but it does. I always think that people are closest to who they really are when they wake up in the morning totally unaware of all apparent codes, do's and dont's. But shortly after that all the memories on how to behave and look good make it back and we act that instead. So yea, appearance influences loads. Oh and considered to be goodlooking isn't always a blessing, it can be a burden too at times. Another thing most aren't aware of when just awakening. I like that little twilight zone where I can just be me.

Perhaps a bit, but the most important thing that influances your personality is your self esteem. If you think you are someone special you will be some one special.
If you think your high class you will act like a snob, I mean High class.

sure it does! We are shallow beings, and often rely on others to define ourselves...Once you realize this (usually after adolescence) you begin to from your own personality, based on who you think you are as opposed to who others think you are. A person who is not able to get past the first layer, the physical aspect, will always tie appearance with personality...the deeper you dig into yourself, the less this will affect the way you view yourself, the way others view you, and ultimately, your personality.
What I find truly interesting is the way personality influences appearance. The lines and wrinkles people develop, the hairstyles they choose, the posture they keep...all exterior manifestations of how they feel inside...now that is a trip!

Personality? maybe / maybe not... But Mood and quality of life... Absolutely YES!
1) From personal experience
Over the years, when I've been ill, for example with the flu or a cold, my mother will often tell me to get out of bed take a shower, put on a cute outfit and some makeup, etc. Her original motivation for urging me to do these things was probably to get me to quite whining and give her an hour or so of peace while I was busy primping. But it actually works, to this day... regardless of whether I am actually sick, or hungover, or even just bummed out about something... giving myself a little extra time to plan a snazzy outfit and put on some makeup, or do something other than a ponytail with my hair... 9 times out of 10, gives me enough of a "lift" to get going and face the day with a more positive attitude.
2) From intro to psych class or something...
I've also heard that simply pasting a smile on your face even when you don't feel like it; somehow alters the neurotransmitters in your brain and improves your mood. Plus, if you walk around smiling all day the people around tend to smile back at you which further improves your mood.
3) From Eddy Emer's research and diary http://www.eddyelmer.com/cv.htm
Physically attractive people are more relaxed and socially adept, and less socially anxious and lonely than less physically attractive people (eg, Feingold, 1992; Goldman and Lewis, 1977).
Physically attractive people seem also to be more more satisfied with their lives and consider themselves happier than do their less attractive counterparts (most likely because physical attractiveness gives them the kinds of benefits that lead to social and vocational success). On measures of affect and mood, physically attractive people score higher than less physically attractive people. See Umberson and Hughes, 1987.
Physically attractive people are more likely to be successful in changing other people's attitudes and in getting what they want (eg, Cialdini, 1995).
4) From the CDC
A commonly mentioned benefit of regular exercise is improved affect (positive mood, reduced depression, lowered anxiety).(37,38) The nature of the relationship between exercise and mental health is poorly understood. It is known that physically active persons report higher levels of self- esteem, perhaps in response to improved personal appearance and self-image. No well-designed studies have shown that the incidence of clinically confirmed psychiatric disorders can be reduced through exercise.(39)

I think it does, naturally. For the very simple fact that what you look like is how others primarily see you, because it may also represent the way you feel and act, meaning your personality affects the way you look and vice-versa.

Without question. It effects your entire mindset. If you feel like your body image is good, and your clothing looks nice as well, you'll leave the house with a jump in your step.
