That's a good question. Many of us are boxed in by our belief systems and don't recognize wisdom if it lies outside that box. Sometimes the light of wisdom blinds us or makes us uncomfortable and we turn our back and deny it. Unless our minds are open to possibilites we may miss out on delicious morsels of wisdom.

Being wise and recognizing wisdom is a skill like any other that requires an interest and an aptitude developed over time. I think religion is so popular because people are not comfortable knowing wisdom for themselves. Anybody can add 2+2, and anybody can acknowledge the validity of basic wisdom, but the difficult wisdom-- that which challenges us or requires change in us-- may be passed off as quaint or absurd. To know wisdom, one must possess wisdom in sufficient quantity to overcome fear, ego, and animal habit.

If someone spoke wisdom, would you know it?
If you heard wisdom, would YOU know it?

"Only Buddha together with Buddha can grasp the truth."
It means that if you do not understand wisdom it may sound to you as foolish thing.

So does God operate. I don't always see it, hear it, or understand it, but God is always exposing me to wisdom. I always end up humbled.
