Severe Chest pains are a sign of other problems and need to be evaluated by a physician. At the very least, Anginal pains may be the cause but other diseases may also enter into the picture. Many physicians have an EKG machine in their office or will instruct you to go to a hospital for such a test. While the cost of such tests may prove high, it is best to know what you are facing and anginal pains are rather easily relieved with oral medication. As a physician, I may sound a bit serious about the diagnosis but it is to your advantage to check out the cause. Anginal pains are caused by the heart muscle itself not having a sufficient supply of oxygen. There are other causes of severe chest pain of greater or lesser importance but I suspect that you have angina. The diagnosis might be a bit expensive but fortunately most of the drugs (nitroglycerin is the old stand-by) are relatively cheap. Tomorrow is the best day to do it.

i get chest pains really bad... usually from not wearing a bra, but I have bad pinched nerves in my back, and it causes the pain to radiate into my chest, so bad I used to think I was having a heart attack. I often just walk around, it helps a lot!. I stretch and get moving and think of other things, and the more I walk around it tends to lessen... If you can get someone to rub your back, or put your hands on your hips or press on your back as you walk, sometimes it helps them go away too... I just make sure to arch my back, put my hands on my hips, and pace the floor... or i will have my boyfriend rub it... that always saves me a trip to the E.R.
