It might be a better question: What is the quantity of quality.. Or: What is the quality of quantity. Even so, quality refers to both great and small concerning worth. Quantity refers to both great and small concerning amount. A little thing of quality is better than a Universe without quality. Thus, a great quantity having quality is a very great thing indeed.

I have been in manufacturing for over 30 years and this question is asked over and over again. Do you want to make a cheap product (quantity) or a product which will last (quality)? Finding that happy medium is a continuous struggle as you want to make a profit (high output, low cost) but you would like for consumers to return and purchase from you again (long lasting, higher cost). The quality of products in my opinion has gone downhill as of late as more and more products are imported because manufacturers are taking advantage of cheap labor available in other countries. It is easy to make something look nice but without good quality control the product usually breaks quickly and you have wasted your hard earned cash.

The old adage " you can't buy love" I believe it applies to this to. I see it everyday with parents who work all day and are beat tired and try to make up for it by buying their kids off. When even though your beat I would bet that the kid would be just as happy to sit on the couch vegging out watching TV with an arm around them and a good snuggle from you. Thus quality would win out over quantity every time.
Good question
take care,
Deb

quality! what's the point of having a large quantity with no quality?
I guess it could depend also if you're on the giving or recieving end and what's important to you, but i definitely think quality.

It is important in certain philospohical arguments, such as "can you jump into the same river twice?" The answer is, you can jump into the same river quantitively, as the river is still there, but not qualitively as the river has changed. It's also important in examining "Ship of Theseus" (or "Theseus's Paradox").
